Melissa Allman: To zest or not to zest, that’s really the question here. We’ve all seen Zillow estimates or Zestments, and really the truth is can we trust it? Is the juice worth the squeeze? This is Melissa with MegaBliss Real Estate. Hate to sound sour, but the answer is no. Let me explain why. They can be grossly inaccurate. It’s a unique algorithm based on public data. This computer has never once stepped into your home, so while your neighbor’s home may be the same square footage with similar features, you may have updated your kitchen to a chef’s dream while your neighbor is still rocking the 80s kitchen. Both look the same on paper, but going inside of the home and seeing what the features are, that’s where your local realtor comes into play to help you determine the proper price for your home to list for sale or when you’re assisting a buyer in buying a home.
Zillow even acknowledges its inaccuracy. Getting the home in the price point is only 5% accurate, 69% of the time. That doesn’t seem right, does it? That’s why if you are wondering what your home is worth, give me a call. Contact me. I’d be more than happy to sit down with you, look at the features of your home, and give you a comparative market analysis, and let you know what your home is really valued at. Simply reach out to me with your name and address, and I can send that over to you in no time. I hope that you make it a great day, and I’ll chat with you soon. Bye.
